Most likely there are those who want to benefit in some way when interacting with others online here. For example if you are a native speaker of a language that they are trying to learn, then most likely that can be a reason for them to reply more often. The best thing you can do is offer something that will make them interested of interacting more frequently. In my case, I receive at least a dozen messages after a day (which is why I'm slow on replying) as I would like to find the time to focus on replying to everyone at once. The reason for this is because I speak more than two languages that people here are interested in either learning, improving or chatting in general. For anyone who stop replying when I notice my message has been read or when they end up replying with a short answer of either "yes", "okay" or something similar. I simply delete those chats as that means the conversation has died and I have no interest on continuing further as I don't see that I have much to lose given I already receive messages from several others here. I know this makes me sound arrogant but what I mean is, I need to priortize on where I put my energy here on Hellotalk and it goes first and foremost to those who are willing to put their energy continuously of keeping the conversation active. So If you're the one that always engages in the conversation first, expect to meet someone who will always try and reply to you 😊 In worst case, if the list of messages start to becomes too much, I may have to filter them again with the request of a profile picture and a description 😅 **Language**: English *17 likes · 930 views* [View this moment](https://www.hellotalk.com/moments/HWtbM1SaW3vMDD.md) --- ## 2. 10/20/2024 When you’ve become a target for racism. So a couple of days ago. Someone was trying to start a conversation with me here on HelloTalk. Usually I try to always respond to everyone who contacts me whenever I can as long as you’re not being rude in any way. In this case, that’s exactly what happened. The person was rude already at first message by asking if I was an Arab. I had no intention to reply to those kind of questions as it made me feel uncomfortable. So I ignored it. But it didn’t end there… The second message both shocked me and me furious as I couldn’t decide if I should laugh or cry. Whereas the person told me to get out my own country and calling me a terrorist. The first and most natural thing I did of course was to report the person for discriminatory behaviour and racism. It was a shame it instantly erased the chat conversation and blocked the person as I really wanted to give them a piece of my mind by pointing out every single flaw in that bigoted message. Just because I have a certain appearance (in this case my dark hair) doesn’t mean you can call me things that is not only out of the line but inaccurate in every conceivable way that I could think of. Which includes nationality, ethnicity and religion. It still amazes me that these kind of people think saying non-tolerable things on the internet where a report function is implemented is going to make them think they can get away with zero consequences of it.
