The story is actually unfortunate because the minister (if I can call him that) 大臣，warned the king time and again to not easily believe what people will say once he (the 大臣)is gone. The minister adviced the king to at least investigate before believing what other people would say. Once the minister left for a foreign country people started badmouthing him but initially the king did not believe them. However as many more people spoke bad about the minister, the king ended up believing them and never trusted the minister ever again.
