I tried watching an English sitcom that my HalloTalk friend recommended. First, I watched without Japanese subtitles, then I watched it again with subtitles. Even though I slowed down the playback speed, I only understand an outline of the story and heard some simple phrase. I couldn’t clearly understand what characters were saying at all. I was a bit frustrated. However, it was a very interesting experience to listen to something consciously. Later, I listened to a favorite podcast in Japanese, I felt how strange it was that I could understand what people say in Japanese completely without thinking about it . It’s just natural in everyday! It’s amazing and mysterious to able to understand a language. I think it may be different learning a language and learning anything else.
