One more difference between German German 🇩🇪 and Austrian German 🇦🇹: Grußformen (greetings) In Germany „guten Tag“ is pretty common. Although in Austria it’s not. Instead it’s more common to say „Grüß Gott“ (greet god) in formal settings or to strangers in general. To greet friends often „Servus“ (or in dialect „Servas“ is used. It can also be used to say good bye. In some areas „dere“ (from „Habe die Ehre“ - „have the honor“) is still also pretty common to say hello or bye in very informal settings. Instead of saying „auf Wiedersehen“ many Austrians tend to say „auf wiederschauen“ which has the same meaning (the verb „schauen“ for „to see“ is generally more common than „sehen“ in Austria). Habt ein schönes Wochenende!
