Everything was fine until I noticed an elderly woman staring out the window with a sorrowful expression. I sat down beside her and tried to engage her in conversation. It's been about two hours since that heavy conversation, but I can still feel the weight of her words within me. The dear grandmother I met was nearing her 70s and had been living in the nursing home for 15 years. She had no children and lost her family during the war. Her husband passed away just two years into their marriage. She showed me her memory box, filled with old letters and belongings. But you know what saddened me the most? She told me, 'I remember the last time I held his warm hands. he looked at me with that loving gaze and told me he would be home soon. It was April 5, 1988. I can still smell his perfume. Do you know how painful it is to say goodbye to someone, not knowing it will be the last time?he said goodbye and left the house, and he never came back. he left his memories with me.
