Она совсем невелика, умещается на ладони, одета в яркое платье из лоскутков ткани красных и зелёных оттенков, словно сама щедрая земля одарила её своими красками. Подорожница – не просто игрушка, это оберег, спутница в долгом пути. В давние времена её давали путникам в дорогу, наполнив мешочек щепоткой родной земли, зерном, травами или золой из домашнего очага. Считалось, что кукла, впитавшая в себя частичку дома, поможет страннику вернуться невредимым, защитит от бед и укажет верный путь. Она – символ связи с родным домом, напоминание о тепле очага и поддержка вдали от близких.
