While coming to a new country the first mistake a new student do is choosing "country mate" as their roommate. I did the same mistake and now i'm realising. Let me explain why? You're in a new country, new place, new culture, new people. You have to exchange your thoughts, gain experience, learn some new culture, language etc. But when you’re with your country mates 24/7, 24 hours a day, you're speaking your own native language, not adapting a new culture, the new place. You're not exploring the other countries people, culture, thoughts. You have the opportunity but you're not using that. I lived 5 years in Beijing with my country mate. To be honest i didn’t had much foreign friend, rarely exploring new culture, new things. Whenever i wanna do anything new, they always discourage. 📌 Exact for that reason, i barley made chinese friend in Beijing. Now i'm trying to make more, everyday, wherever i go. Many people might feel a little strange, but they're no gonna see me again. So Let's just try try try try... 📌 My current roommates are from Niger and Morocco. My University friend circle from Germany, France, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mali, Burkina Faso, Rwanda and so on. Most of them speaks French, so i'm also trying to develop a new language to match their communication level. That's a great achievement for me. Now i can exploring new people, their culture, their languages, their food and many things 🤷♂️ 🟢 My recommendation for all new learnes is just give your shot. No matter what people are thinking, no matter they're judging you not. Cause even if they judge, it's not effecting your personal life, thet're not feeding you, not bearing your expenses. So just F them of... FYI, this picture is from last night, Christmas Eve party. One of best night in my 7 year of foreign life so far... ❤️🔥
