🇯🇵今日は敬語について説明するよ❗️ 🇳🇱Vandaag zal ik de Japanse eretitel uitleggen. 🇬🇧Today I will explain about Japanese honorific language. ---------------------------- Japanese People say 「いただきます🙏」 before eating. It means 「食べ物の命をいただきます(I am receiving lives of animals or plants)」 recieve = もらう (morau) = いただく( itadaku) 頂く(いただく) is categorized in 謙譲語(kenjo-go). If you want to work in a Japanese company, you need to understand the difference between 敬語(keigo), which is 丁寧語(teinei -go), 尊敬語(sonkei-go) and 謙譲語(kenjo-go) 【Type of Keigo 】 ◾️丁寧語(teinei-go) is to add 〜です(desu) 〜ます(masu) at the end to be polite. This type is used for everybody if you don’t want someone to think you’re rude. This type is the easiest 敬語, and foreigners tend to study it early. ex 友達が(My friends) 来る(kuru: come) →来ます(kimasu) ◾️尊敬語(sonkei-go) is used to elevate the person you're speaking about. ex お客様が(The guests) 来る(kuru: come) →おいでになる(oideninaru) or いらっしゃる(irassharu) or お越しになる(okoshininaru) ◾️謙譲語(kenjo-go) is used to humble yourself and your actions. This type is like a business language based on samurai’s culture, and is the most difficult 敬語. ex 私が(I) 来る(kuru: come) →参る(mairu) or うかがう(ukagau) Even Japanese people often mistake it and many young generations can’t use 尊敬語and 謙譲語correctly. The one of methods is to watch 大河ドラマ(taiga drama) and 時代劇(jidai geki), which Samurai appears. In the Edo period and other times in the past, some Japanese people were executed if they were disrespectful to those in a higher position. Because it depended on the mood of the person in a higher position, in order to protect one's own life, one had to not only respectfully use honorific language to elevate the other person, but also to use humble language to lower one's own position and further elevate the position of the person one was speaking to, thereby showing one's humility. イラスト(木村いこ)
