Today, I went to try Chinese hotpot. It was delicious. I chose the Japanese style tomato broth combined with lamb, duck breast, mushrooms and Shanghai bok choy. Where I live in Canada is the biggest Chinatown of the entire North America. There’s good Chinese food, Japanese food and Korean food. In Richmond, the first settlers are from Hong Kong and as well as Japanese fishermen. Over the past decade, Mainland Chinese immigrated here and brought different Chinese cuisines from Sichuan, and Shanghai. Ngl (not gonna lie), I prefer Shanghai and Japanese style cuisine over dim sum. But I try not to eat hot pot frequently because the broth is too salty and can cause high blood pressure. My mom said I don’t look like the average Chinese but I grew up immersed in the Chinese culture here in Canada. I learned Chinese brush painting, ate Chinese food and played badminton. I met a lot of amazing people along the way. 我的中文还是是三脚猫。
