Back then, I always carried a book around with me and kept buying new ones without overthinking. I also recall having 3-4 in my backpack once when I was on the road. Having returned to Thailand, it’s a different story, though. I’ve come to know those who seem to enjoy reading but can’t afford (much). Public libraries are sadly not easy to find either. I’ve then gradually lost my passion for it… but who’s to blame? 🤷🏻♀️ ====================================== My EN/CN/DE gratitude journal 📝 🌸 Today, I’m grateful that 1) I unexpectedly found a food stall selling rice dumplings and got to try one after all these years. 2) I plucked up my courage to go see a doctor. I was then given a flu shot and was told to return later for further tests as well. 3) I started reading an English novel once again. It’s been a while as I’ve felt that books (both paper format and copyright ebooks) sold in Thailand are pricey, and it doesn’t match up with the minimum wage! ====================================== PS Below is the bookshelf I owned when I was based overseas (and moved in to that house for less than 6 months). The other pic is to show how much I paid for these 4. The left ones were bought in Thailand, the top right in Hungary, and the bottom right in Germany. Although they’re roughly comparable in price, our minimum wage is times lower that one is likely to work (for) the whole day to buy/have one! 😐
