Sometimes, I notice short, one-word answers with no follow-up questions. For many people especially from Western countries this can feel like you are not really interested in the conversation. Some examples: • Q: What is your name? A: Bee. (But not asking, “What’s your name?”) • Q: What part of Thailand are you from? A: Bangkok. (No question back like “Where are you from?”) • Q: What do you like to do for fun? A: Sleep. (No extra conversation) When you only give short answers or just send emojis, it’s very hard for the other person to keep the conversation alive. Tip: Try to answer and ask a question back! It makes chatting much more fun and shows you are interested. Remember: Good conversations happen when both people are trying and showing curiosity about each other.
