Tips for UK Travel 1. The apps I used the most to purchase tickets were National Express app and Trainline. 2. Trainline is a rail and bus app. I used it mostly to purchase train tickets. The app allows you to get digital tickets too. Not all of the stations support the barcode tickets. You will be notified if the mobile barcode tickets are available. Otherwise, you will need to arrive to the station in advance to collect the tickets from the machine. You will need a debit card with which you purchased the ticket to do so. 3. For coaches I used National Express app. If you don't mind longer travel times, taking a coach can sometimes be more affordable than boarding a train. However, if you plan to take a longer journey, I recommend to make a standard seat reservation. 4. There are also apps available for the local buses. You can usually deduct the name of the app by looking at the bus (see picture 8). If you have any doubts about the legitnes of the application, you can usually check for the name of the bus app at the local council website. Of course there are many other ways to purchase your tickets! Please let me know if you would like me to make a separate post about a local bus travel. 5. Lastly I would like to tell you about a Sunflower lanyard scheme. These lanyards discreetly let staff at many places know you, or someone in your family, has a hidden disability and may require additional assistance because of it. The additional assistance could include being escorted through areas with long queues, a briefing of what to expect, or provide more time. The lanyards can be ordered in advance from businesses participating in the scheme, or picked up at the customer service or special assistance desks. I know that you can usually pick them up at the assistance desk at the airports. Have you been to UK before? Have you used those apps? Or maybe there were other websites that you found more useful?
