Is Brazil always dangerous? Regarding my daily walks with Chico, my dog: People outside of Brazil think it's so dangerous here that it's impossible to walk on the streets. In fact, many cities in the country are dangerous, but there are exceptions. I currently live in João Pessoa, a city in northeastern Brazil, in a university neighborhood surrounded by an environmental reserve. I've lived here for six years and have never experienced any attempted robbery or violence. I walk my dog every day on the street, and I feel safe. There's good policing here, and other people also walk their dogs on the streets and in the parks. But not every place in the city is as safe as my neighborhood, so it's always good to be vigilant and ask people who live in the place you want to visit if it's a safe place to be!
