The photo is a moth I saw this week. It’s probably the moth called Monkuro Shachihoko. With its fluffy thorax and pattern of wing like bird’s feather, it’s cute. When I googled the moth name, “eat” was suggested to my surprise. I saw some search results and found that the larvae have a reputation for being pretty yummy among those who enjoy eating insects. Because the larvae are raised on cherry leaves, they smell good like sakuramochi, a sweet rice cake wrapped in a cherry leaf.
