Grey, grey, and grey again, Morning mist, and gentle rain. Clouds above, your quiet stare, A memory hanging in the air. There was no song inside of me You sang it softly, set it free. No mirror showed what lay within You looked and found the light begin. I was a root in sacred ground, Asleep, with no rain falling down. But in your gaze, I came alive, I felt the green begin to rise. A spark flew out from both your eyes, And rain fell down from mine like skies. Your cheeks were wet, your eyes were warm, A summer sun inside a storm. While wolves are born in distant cries, Let’s keep the lambs from harm and lies. So touch me gently with your eyes, And see what hidden strength will rise. This shepherd’s staff I hold today Will guard us if we lose our way. But when the fight and fire are through, I'll pick fresh figs and bring them to you. I’ll stay beside you, sing our song, And walk with you the whole way long.
