I love TV shows where they invite foreigners who are really into something from Japan and really want to visit Japan. Yesterday an American guy who ran Japanese restaurant and was obsessed with ago dashi was invited to Fukuoka. 私は日本の何かにハマってしまってとても日本に行きたがっている外国人を日本に招待してあげるテレビ番組が大好きです。昨日は日本料理のお店をやっていて、あごだしにめちゃくちゃはまっている人が福岡に招待されていました。 I can understand why foreign tourists feel Japanese cuisine is bland and lacking in strong flavours, because compared to other Asian countries, it doesn't have that same punch. However it makes me happy to know there are someone who can appreciate umami of dashi. 私は日本料理は曖昧であまり味がないと思う外国人旅行者の気持ちがわからなくもないです。だって他のアジアの国と比べてもパンチがないですよね。でもこうやって出汁の旨味がわかる人もいるのかと思うと嬉しいです。
