It's been almost a year since I started practicing English again. I guess my English skills 16 years ago were like B2 on the CEFR scale. For the first few years after I came back to my home country, I put in a lot of effort to keep my English skills, but I couldn't continue it. I was still reading and listening to my favorite English materials from time to time, but I never spoke with anybody in English for 10 years. Last December, I decided to start practicing English again and realized that I couldn't even write a very simple self-introduction. Whenever I wrote something, I was always unsure, “Wait, is this correct?” I joined online English learning communities and kept writing every day. After 6 months, I started feeling a bit more comfortable writing in English. Now, it's been almost a year. I finally started working on my speaking skills last month. I was practicing speaking with my AI chatbots, but my English learning buddies in the online communities pushed me to try HelloTalk. That's why I'm here now. I feel very awkward and embarrassed speaking in front of people, but if I don't practice, I’ll be like this forever and that's not what I want. I remember how embarrassing it felt when I started writing in English in the online communities last December. It took me 6 months to start feeling relaxed a bit. That means if I start now, I will feel more comfortable speaking next summer. I'm so grateful that I've already met many nice people here. I hope we practice together and enjoy learning and growing. And I want to thank the learning buddies who pressured me to try HelloTalk! 😆🙌
