In Spanish for me it make sense saying - "yo he hecho eso antes" and it has slightly different meaning than - "yo hice eso antes". Does it make sense in English too : "I've done that before" vs "I did that before"? I am as well debating with a friend if it also makes sense to say "I've done that in the past". Does this sound weird? My friend says that "in the past" should only be used with the past simple: "I did that in the past" Could anyone give me examples? And when using other random verb as: "yo he estudiado eso en el pasado" it sounds great to me in Spanish but "yo he estudiado eso hace tiempo" (~a while ago) doesn't sound as good and I would say: "yo estudié eso hace tiempo". I'm not sure how would it be in English. Would it work the same way?
