(If you don’t believe me, try it — the minute you try, you die.) It not only mirrors the meaning of FAFO (F**k Around and Find Out), but with the second half, it takes it to a whole new—possibly diabolical—level. What makes it even more amusing is the wordplay: 试试 (shìshi, “try it”) sounds almost identical to 逝世 (shìshì, “to die”). So when spoken, the phrase rolls off the tongue with a dark, comedic and even poetic twist due to this phonetic coincidence. 😺Flexibility in usage: Since the sentence lacks an explicit subject, it’s open to interpretation—who exactly will die? This makes it flexible for use in both threats and self-deprecating jokes. 😺Example: Under a post recommending a restaurant which is notorious for its poor hygiene, someone might comment: 试试就逝世 (shìshi jiù shìshì) “I tried it and died.” / “Try it and you’ll die.” 2️⃣Another internet-famous expression is a mashup of English and Chinese pinyin: ⭐️No Zuo No Die⭐️ Here, Zuo is the pinyin for 作 (zuò), a colloquial term for being “extra”, dramatic, attention-seeking, reckless, unreasonable or needlessly adventurous. 😺Origin: It comes from the full phrase: 不作就不会死 (Bù zuò jiù bú huì sǐ) (If you don’t do risky things (if you toe the line), you won’t die.) It’s kind of like “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” or “don’t poke the bear”. 😺Example: A: 我今天去那个餐厅了，拉了一天肚子。 (I went to that restaurant today, and I’ve had diarrhea all day.)
