One of my housemates is Chinese Malaysian. I often feel her message is kind of monotone and sometimes harsh, but is it very natural English? I expect that since Japanese language itself is quite indirect, so maybe it is my problem. Still understanding the tone / nuance of English messages is difficult for me.
