I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain the meaning of “of estate”. I’ve been reading an English novel featuring a queen of England in the 16th century and came across the expression “XX of estate” several times; e.g. canopy of estate, cradle of estate, bed of estate. I googled and found out that there were the Cloth of Estate and the Chairs of Estate, both were associated with British monarchs.
