I was reading a book titled “키워드 동남아” which gives Korean readers a light introduction to the history, culture, and politics of Southeast Asia. Out of thirty chapters, one is dedicated to Indonesian cuisine, and I’d love to share the part where the author talks about 🫕rendang🫕. I feel like reading something familiar in the language we’re learning can really help us to get used to it. Hope it helps you too! I added meanings for the Korean words you might not know, in both English and Indonesian. Most of the Indonesian words are new for me tbh🧐, so pls let me know if i got anything wrong. If you have any questions about the Korean words here, feel free to ask me.🥰 비극 tragedy - tragedi 희극 comedy - komedi 다채롭다 various, varied, diverse, colorful - beragam, warna-warni 증대시키다 increase, elevate - mengingkatkan (tingkat 단계, 수준) 반열에 오르다 rise to the status of (or just ‘has become recognized as) - masuk dalam jajaran, diakui sebagai e.g. 그는 세계적인 과학자의 반열에 들었다. He took his place among world-class scientists. 믹서기에 ‘곱게’ 갈다 = blend … into a fine paste - haluskan *곱다 → 곱게 → 고운 For instance, there are two different types(idk if there’s more) of 고춧가루: <고운> 고춧가루 fine red pepper powder ↔ <굵은> 고춧가루 coarse red pepper powder - halas/kasar 볶다 fry - goreng 으깨다 crush - menumbuk (tumbuk) atau menggeprak 은근한 불 low heat, medium-low heat - api kecil , api sedang ke kecil 졸이다 simmer - mengentalkan, merebus hingga mengental ## Images 1.
