Animism followed by tribals of Bastar region is very well noticed in Mandai-mela (local fair). You get to see the local deities in the symbolic form of dev laath and anga dev. Anga Devs are ancestral tribal gods in Bastar, worshipped by Gonds and Murias. They protect villages and are called during festivals and rituals, not in temples but in nature. Seen as spirit guardians, they connect the people to their land, ancestors, and traditions. 🪶 🪶 🪶 Anga Devs are often worshipped without idols—only symbols or totems are used (like wood, stone, or metal weapons). Communication with Anga Dev is done through possession or trance, where the Gaita or a devotee is believed to speak on the deity's behalf. ## Images 1.
