I tried to add an AI translation using Claude but the post exceeded the character limit. 😂 And then it still exceeded the character limit! So I have to add the rest as a comment. 🤣🤣 I've been alternating between just enjoying Japanese and studying it. I don't think I'm at a high enough level to just enjoy it, so I'm setting up a new Anki deck for myself with words and phrases I'd like to remember. I've been meaning to post about my method but I procrastinated trying and now I'm in the process of changing it. 😂 My routine had been to look up words I couldn't remember or didn't know in a Japanese Dictionary app. I'd try to make a sentence or two with them, then I'd ask ChatGPT or Claude to correct me and give feedback on what was incorrect and break down the composition of the sentence. It helped me get the hang of the word order, but I couldn't remember the Kanji for the words I was using. Watching YouTube videos for listening practice wasn't helping much with learning Kanji for words, even with the subtitles. I just couldn't remember most words I was learning. It was a lack of repetition, and insufficient understanding of the Kanji. So I've stated using WaniKani to help learn Kanji. It's been a massive help. It's a Spaced Repetition System as a free website. Learning the Kanji has helped me to remember words I know but struggle to recall. Even just knowing components of unfamiliar Kanji in familiar words has helped me to remember them. It's such an interesting language! I'm really appreciating the depth with on'yomi and kun'yomi readings.
