It carries the bones of secrets and lies, And buries them under the black of the skies. They say it is calm, a shimmering blue, But I see the storm it hides from the view. It whispers in voices twisted and torn, Of shipwrecks forgotten, of hearts that were worn. Its waves roll in like ghostly parade, Each crash is a promise the dark has made. It never forgets what silence has cost, It sings for the lonely, the damned, and the lost. I sit by its edge, and it looks through me, Not water, not sky—but a mirror to be. I ask it of sorrow, it gives me a name, Then pulls it away like smoke into flame. And still it returns, again and again, Not out of love, but hunger or pain. It licks at the shore and swallows the day, Then moans in the dark till the light fades away. The sea never sleep, it only pretends, It waits in the black for the world to end.
