This morning, after my workout, I spent some time reading a book. The book I’m currently reading is Principles by Ray Dalio. Today, I learned one of his principles, which emphasizes the importance of seeking opinions from trusted experts. He also advises seeking opposing views from other trustworthy experts. The reason is that listening to both sides significantly increases the likelihood of uncovering the truth. I believe this principle is especially critical in today’s world. Social media has developed excessively, and algorithms have advanced significantly as well. This often leads us to dive deeply into a single perspective and believe only that viewpoint. Interestingly, a neuroscientist I recently met shared a similar thought. He said that to avoid falling into such biases, it’s crucial to meet a wide variety of people. By doing so, we can discover facts we weren’t previously aware of and escape our own biases. That’s why I believe Ray Dalio’s principle is incredibly important for uncovering the truth in this world. I hope this insight is helpful to you today. This is also why I’m trying to make friends from as many countries as possible.
