The food diary continues... actually this place is excellent but maybe it’s a little too Melbourne, a little too ironic or clever. Down the alleyway behind a petrol station next to the garbage truck and some bins? Oh well, just enjoy a dirty chai.
Later on I went to a Japanese cafe and enjoyed an interesting conversation with the staff. I ordered in Japanese, and it ruined the carefree atmosphere immediately - I feel as though I trapped them in formality by using Japanese. Maybe I think too much, but maybe the waitress disliked Japanese culture and was unhappy to be reminded.
