🇬🇧🇬🇧 English Phrase Time 🇬🇧🇬🇧 (C1+ difficulty)

take to "something

" with a pinch of salt

"if I was you I would take his advice with a pinch of salt!"

To take something with a pinch of salt can be used when you want to express that one should not completely believe something that you are told, because you think it is unlikely to be true:

"You have to take everything she says with a pinch of salt, because she tends to exaggerate."

"jack told me that he could male 100k a year by starting a company but I've taken it with a pinch of salt as that seems too high... "

"P1: Jess called me fat because I like eating pizza..
P2... well I'd take what she said with a pinch of salt... Jess doesn't know your normal diet"

Now it's your turn! Try using "take something with a piece of salt" in a sentence and I'll correct any mistakes 😁😁😁😁
