The Independence Day party yesterday was

fun. It was definitely a strange feeling to have so many people in one spot, no physical distancing or masking. Just being able to chat with various people was definitely a big treat me. As far as I know all the adults were fully vaccinated and some of the kids 12 and over were as well.

There was volleyball, pool fun for those who wanted to get in the water, lots of food and drinks. We did not leave until 1am, just sitting outside by the fire and talking late after most people had left.

There were a lot of fireworks that people had brought. It is illegal to light fireworks that leave the ground here (unless it is an official permitted event), but there were many volcanoes, smoke bombs, twisters and others. Others in the neighborhood were lighting fireworks as well, so it was a good 90 minute show. It's amazing how much money people are willing to spend on fireworks!
