One thing I really like about Japan is how walk- friendly it

is, here in the us you have to depend on a car heavily to get most places, and there’s lots of parking lots which look uninviting and take up space so it’s nice to see how Japan uses its space and makes it inviting for people who are walking anywhere.

that makes sense. i didn't know that. well, if you put it that way. even in the coutryside in Japan, a car is indispensable and there are some inconveniences. it't nice to be spacious and quiet, but it's difficult to balance.

@kei here you have to rely on a car no matter where you are :( I think it’s safer to take a train too, there are less accidents that way

@kei closest grocery store near me is a 17 min walk I picked out my apartment based on how close it is though, for car it’d take 3 minutes, plus you have to worry about scary people on the street, gun violence and most do the time there’s just no sidewalks to walk on

@kei exactly and if you want to do anything else you have to go by car for a longer amount of time 😅 and having a car and car maintenance and gas can be expensive
