I live alone at a nature center and part of my job is to watch

for suspicious activity at night. After dark I put a chain across the entrance to the parking lot so that no one comes in. The chain is not locked so sometimes people will take the chain down and drive in. Tonight that happened. Two cars drove in and drove to the upper parking lot then into the grass and parked near a pavilion. I think they just wanted to take photos of their cars.

I had my binoculars and could read the license plate on one of the cars. I snuck back down, wrote the number on a piece of paper, put the chain back up, and put the hook through the piece of paper.

Later when they drove out I heard one guy yell to the other “Yo. Yo! YO! Did you put it back up? Someone did it, right?” Then they left without putting the chain back up. I shined my flashlight at them as they drove away. Hopefully I scared them away and they won’t come back.

At night, why they wanted to take photos of their car? Is there light? But you used your flashlight, I think it was dark, so how can they took photos. I am confused.

@Judy Overall you pronounce everything correctly. One thing I noticed was the word “in”. Sometimes it sounds like you are saying it like “eeen”.

👍You’re really on the ball. That was a brilliant set of scare tactics. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Could you spare a few minutes to check my pronunciation? I always find it hard to get the rhythm of English.

@海沢 I think your pronunciation is quite good. You have a bit of an accent but no major mistakes. 👍
