I have posted this lesson before, but I want to post it again

with an audio. My next lesson will be Prepositions of Place.

Prepositions are one of the hardest things for English learners!

Prepositions of Time: At, on, in
We use these prepositions when talking about time.

At: can be used when talking about specific times.
Example: The plane departs at 2:30 in the afternoon.
- The children finish school at 3:15pm.
- My mom goes for a walk at 7:00am every day.

On: can be used when talking about days and dates.
Example: My family leaves on Monday for vacation.
- My birthday is on November 9th.
- On Saturday we went to the movies.

In: can be used when talking about nonspecific times during a day, a month, a season, or a year
- She likes to eat toast in the morning.
- In the summer we go swimming a lot.
- The restaurant closed in 2015 after the earthquake.
- The teacher says she is quitting in June.

@Abdul you can say “my birthday is in November” because it’s not a specific day. We just know your birthday is sometime during the month of November. If you say “November 9th,” it becomes a specific day, so you say “my birthday is on November 9.” Same rule with the teacher. “She is quitting in June,” because we don’t know which specific day she will quit on. We just know it is some time during the month. To use “on,” you would have to choose a specific day. “The teacher is quitting on June 11th.”
