🇬🇧🇬🇧 English Expression Time!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧

The ball is in *someones

* court

"p1:I've sent my boss 3 emails now and she just won't get back to me...
p2:well the balls in her court now then.. "

"the ball is in "my/his/her/your/their" court is an expression used when you want to express that it is time for someone to deal with a problem or make a decision, because other people have already done as much as they can. It can be used for telling someone that it is their responsibility to take action or make a decision.

"It’s not Daniel’s fault the deal isn’t finished, he made the last offer. The ball is in Harry’s court now."

"i can't help that my language partner isn't messaging me back. The balls in their court if they want to continue speaking with me."

"look you've explained to your mum the reasons why she needs to go on a diet... the ball is in her court now if she does it or not. "

Now it's your turn! Try using "the ball is in your court" and I'll correct all your mistakes! :)

    You've explained this expression very well, and the ball is in my court now. In Russian we often use the expression "теперь моя/твоя/его/её/их очередь" with the same meaning. 😊
