Hi I am Maxwell from Singapore. I realise there are 10 things about U.S. culture. First you have to Think BIG where Americans often prefer large and luxurious. 2nd To go concept. Eating on the run. Most Americans are always on the go. Thirdly, Going out to eat or ordering take out. Then Sports, Competition, Political Correctness, Small Talk and Independence:)

@캣 Kat T Hello good morning here, i guess is good night there? Why is there so much fear of the number 13? I think most American people fear the number 13 Is it true that there are "absurd" laws in some states? College life is what it looks like in the movies? I'm not saying it's all parties and alcohol, I mean if it is so important to belong to a fraternity and if they make so many jokes on the students.

@Wilhelm hmm, well it may be a bit more violent than Korea because of gun usage, but the “gangs” are more in pockets of the country and cities, rather than spread all of over

@Seongmin 성민 it’s hard to say what’s an “American” dish since we are a land of many cultures and people. Most American food is a fusion of different cultures, such and Indian and Mexican. We do, however, have a lot of traditional food from the south, which would include things such as gumbo and biscuits and gravy. And finally, we have different styles of barbecue throughout the u.s.

@Samuel for the number 13, we feel as if it’s an unlucky number. This is likely because Jesus was betrayed by Judas, who was the 13th disciple to sit down at the Last Supper Some states have laws that are “absurd”, such as high fines for certain misdemeanors, but it depends on that state and the kind of people that live there It depends on the college that you go to. But overall, “Greek” life is pretty important to a lot of people and they do often engage in “hazing” the newest fraternity or sorority members

@Kam it is used when someone doesn’t believe something will happen, because eating a hat is ridiculous. For example: “Kevin is always late. If he’s on time today, I’ll eat my hat.” However, this expression is rather old fashioned, and few people use it today

@캣 Kat T I tried gumbo at New Orleans for breakfast. I’m sorry say that but the taste and cooking style are not real American foods. Because American people cannot hold spicy food and it feels like Mexican gumbo. Anyway, thank you reply to my question! Have a nice day!

@Seongmin 성민 because America has so many different cultures, there are many foods that may not seem to be the typical “American” food but still are. American food isn’t united by a common taste, but rather by a common place or origin. So while most American food may not be spicy, there are certain American dishes that are

@캣 Kat T So the number 13 depends on religion I understand, if you are not a believer it does not influence. I guess those laws will be in a certain context, at some point something would happen that they would need to avoid. Do all Americans usually get along? Or are there places where others are looked down upon? For example, on occasion (although especially in the cinema, and it also happens here), those who live in towns or in the mountains are looked down upon. Do you mind if we keep talking in private? Thanks a lot!

@Samuel Actually, though it’s originated in religion, many Americans “fear” the number 13 , without knowing or caring about the religious context. It’s just a general superstition at this point
