= You’d

better 〜.

You’d better 〜

You’d better finish cleaning your room before I come back.

You’d better not touch those cookies until after dinner.

You’d better watch this movie

You’d better 〜

    @Green tea Sandy is talking down to Danny in the song. “You better shape up (or you can’t be with me)!” If he doesn’t change, he has no chance with Sandy.

    @No name It’s better for you to 〜使える場合は少ないと思う🤔 You could only use it to give advice contrary to your friend’s intention. It is also quite strong. You are disagreeing with your friend. “Should” is the most versatile option, and not too strong. Usually I would say, “I think you should 〜” in order to soften the suggestion. “May as well”/“Might as well”はなんか他のいい選択がない時にテキトーに決めたって感じ😅 There aren’t any taxis around, so we might as well walk to the hotel.

    @No name It will always would a little strong to give a direct suggestion. That’s why I recommend using “I think you should 〜.” You could try asking your professor for an extension on the deadline.
