I really want to visit Japan, but I am worried because I do have

a lot of tattoos. I got them when I just turned 18 and didn’t think too much about how it would effect traveling.

    Don’t worry mate. I have a lot of tattoos on my body. I am Japanese and I don’t care this crazy culture of Japan. If you want to go even to the Onsen, pool,whatever we’re free we can even go there because nowadays we often wear the wearing for the sun. Or to the Onsen maybe we can hide them with something tape things. They are crazy so just don’t worry about this crazy Japanese culture. Who cares haha And I mean I think it’s because of the mafias. Many years ago only they were tattooed that’s why I guess. But nowadays it becomes a part of a fashion of people around the world. So that’s why some people still be careful about tattoos because they might be harmful you know.

    It depends on what kind of people they are rather than tattoos. Actually there are some tourists are rude and uncivilized here sadly...

    Where ever you go I think you’re gonna be fine, if you’re interacting with local people and they seem scared, it’s not because of your tatoo, it’s because they’re not used to foreigners. Learn some Japanese, Be nice and you’ll be just fine.

    @Alan I’ve heard they’re seen as “unclean” or they are related to criminals and gangs. Like if I wanted to go to a bathhouse I would definitely be turned away.

    It doesn’t effect that much if you are here for traveling. You just can’t go onsen, public pool, maybe the beach too

    In Japan it is a not good impression that put a tattoo but I think it’s cool and I want to get some tattoos someday. So you don’t need to worry about it!!
