It is really annoying when people put English as their native

language when they are not a native. Constantly using broken English. Posting corrections that aren’t even CORRECT. If you’re not an English native it’s simple. Don’t say you are. Literally one of the MOST annoying things about this app. Stop using our language for other motives...🛑
If you don’t see one of these flags 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 🇳🇿 🇮🇪 🇨🇦 don’t learn from them.

    A native didn't have to go through the struggle of learning the language as a foreign language. People that did might be of help as they were in the same boat at some point so their point of view may be quite interesting 😉

    @Bilal بلال I assume you’d better speak to natives and learn grammar from someone advanced. Cause you can learn from mistakes native speakers make, but you have to be aware of such mistakes to understand the meaning

    @Véronique also "broken English" sounds really rude, maybe is just the way they really speak in their country. I mean, is like if a Spaniard tells me that I don't know how to speak Spanish bc I'm from latinamerica and we speak different 🥴

    @St3 บริยิท igual, si estoy en esta app es porque quiero practicar en como habla un nativo. Si quiero aprender correctamente iría a la escuela, no? Los nativos son los que más errores tienen, solo alguien que realmente estudió la gramática del idioma se daría cuenta de ciertos errores.

    It's hard to generalize. Many Northern Europeans / Scandinavians speak excellent English and make excellent teachers, many of them on this app. But I see your point - a hard problem that has been discussed many times on this app with no easy solutions

    So, if I understood correctly, for instance, nobody in Nigeria (!!!) might be able to help me with English? 🙃 It's exactly like if I would say than, in Côte d'Ivoire, Bénin, Togo, Sénégal, Cameroun, the two Congo, etc, nobody master French. 🙃🙃🙃 Fortunately, I'm lucky to know excellent French speakers in these countries. Same for English! 😊

    @sanjay About the solution... They could add a small test to check that a language is your native but it might be too much for the free app.

    @Alexander @kostya Yes, that's one solution although, like you said, it may be too much to expect from a free app. In the past I've also written to HT recommending a voting system - other users can "vote" on whether a correction was valid or not. I've seen other language apps with this feature. But none of these are perfect solutions and they all require a lot of effort from HT
