Rape flower???😲🤔 say what??!
(I honestly never heard of this

particular name before)

Since it is Spring time, everyone is posting their flower related pictures and it has come to my attention that quite a few people call the flower you see below as "Rapeseed flower" or "Rape flower"("Flor de violacion" in Spanish). There is an issue with this name though!

The definition of the word rape is sexual harassment. I know, I'm thinking the same thing...
We can't do anything regarding the fact that this flower is called that way BUT this flower is commonly known here as "Canola flower" so it would be best for you to use this name instead. Why? Because some people may instantly attack you for saying such word regardless of context as it is a very sensitive word to many.
Save yourself some trouble.

Violación= Acoso sexual
The Spanish translation is most certainly wrong so never use "flor de violación", please use "flor de canola" or "flor de colza". Para que no te digan cosas malas.

I was astounded and a bit annoyed how most native English speakers reacted, not being so helpful and just kept commenting "You shouldn't say that" "Delete this" "Why are you saying such thing?"
Instead of bashing someone for unknowingly using the incorrect word, we should correct them NICELY and let them know what was wrong and why.

That makes me think, as I continue with my studies I hope to get corrected properly and if I happen to say something inappropriate please do not disregard me but also don't scold me either hehehe, I ask of you🙏

Okay that's it I promise lol.
If you read everything, I'm proud of you! I hope you learned something from my post.☺

What a bizarre name for such a lovely flower🤷‍♀️
