各位老师，👋may和can都有“能”的意思，这两个词有什么区别吗？怎样适用到句子中？

我用一个真正的

故事来回答。
我年轻的时候我举手问过老师：Can I go to the bathroom? 老师回答： Yes, you can but I am not allowing you to go right now.

老师解释说：你最好这样问我： May I go to the bathroom?

“Can” means able to. 能够。You are [physically] able to go to the bathroom. 你的身体能够去厕所。

“May” 你允许我去厕所吗？means do I have permission to go to the bathroom now？

@bellny 谢谢，我不需要在表达宾语。It is a grammatically correct sentence when using “can” but that was not my intention when asking the teacher so it is inappropriate to use can here instead of may.
