Centuries ago, it was a way to present girls

to their community when they turned 15 to say they are ready to marry and have kids ( but of course not anymore!)

Today, a quinceañera is a coming of age celebration for latinas turning 15 years old. It’s where a girl is now considered a young woman. To most Latin communities it’s an IMPORTANT event. A traditional quince has a church ceremony to reaffirm dedication to god and have a big party after. Anyways, it’s basically a wedding, but without the husband...

🎊~ just a few details, because there’s so many things and different traditions in a quinceañera ~🎊

- La quinceañera has a group of girls called “las damas” and boys called “los chambelanes” (traditionally 14 girls and 14 boys) which are usually friends or family around her age. They escort her everywhere. And dance with her or even have a dance routine with her in most cases 💃 🕺

- 💄👑La Quinceañera really has everything she needs to look and feel like a princess( dress, crown, shoes, makeup, center of attention) 👗👠

- 👨‍👧My favorite part of a quinceañera is the father and daughter dance, because it’s so emotional. 🤧
