I pulled my phone out of my backpack

and scrolled through my messages. There were still no new ones. I dropped it back into my bag and stared into my coffee cup. He had told me he missed me, so I had come up to campus early to surprise him, but he hadn't returned my two calls. I shouldn't have made that second call. Now I was sitting in his favorite coffee shop hoping to casually run into him.
