@Josh andar and caminar are similar, and you say this when you don't want to be specific, as I have explain you before. caminar Is when you're walking. If you want to ask me something else I will be glad explaining. Please correct my mistakes if I have any in this or my previous sentence. Thanks ☺

El sábado fui a andar Is not bad. Better in this sentence could be el sábado anduve. ☺ In Spanish If you don't want to say the way you were outing you can use andar. And if you what to specify you can say Ando a pie = walking Ando en automóvil = by car Ando en tren = by train Etc. Did you know that? I hope it helps ☺

Caminé hasta el siguiente pueblo y al regreso también, fue una aventura, estaba haciendo calor y mis pies estaban hechos pedazos después pero mereció la pena.
