. Create opportunities for yourself to join activities with real people in real time where English is the language people use to communicate.

2. Don’t just use English; study it, too. Find books and websites that examine and teach new and interesting facts about vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, writing, and speaking.

3. Mix it up. Study and practice the four skills of speaking, listening, writing, and reading. If you realize that you have been practicing a lot of just one or two of those skills, make an effort to re-focus for a while on a skill that you haven’t worked on.
