📝 Funny😂 vs 😊Fun 🇬🇧
My students often confuse these words, describing

too many things as 'funny.'
If something is "funny," it is comical, and may make us laugh. I like watching The Simpsons, I think it's funny 😂.
However, if something is "fun," it is enjoyable. I enjoy visiting Jeju, I think it's fun 😊. But it's not "funny." I do not step off the plane at Jeju airport and start laughing. I am very happy and excited to be on vacation; but when I try to tell the taxi driver where my hotel is, I'm not crying with laughter 😂.
Another example: I like soccer, I think it's fun. But when I see someone kick a ball, I don't start pointing and laughing 😂.
There are exceptions (for example, funny can also mean a little bit strange), but generally:
-if it makes you feel like laughing, its funny😂
-if it's just enjoyable, it's fun😊
PS. Here are some more words you can use for funny (not fun!). Quite funny: amusing, humourous, comical, humorous. Very funny: hilarious, hysterical.
