Many Americans and American restaurants are now focusing on

whole (not processed) foods🥦🥕🥜🥗🥒🍅🌶🥑🍉🍎🍌🍏🍇🍐🍓🍊🥥👍because the American diet has caused increases in cholesterol and blood sugars in so many people.

What really bad is that people know that's not good for them but still take it.

@Megumi yes! So important for us Americans to fix our ways. And it’s a warning for everyone else not to fall into our fast food trap!

@Megumi I know. I see so much junk food posted. It is sad. When I lived in Georgia, there were several Japanese companies near my home. So the Japanese came to work there, but many gained weight because they changed to the American diet.

@ジジ Gigi Oh! Really! I’ve heard that if we live in the US for a while, we’ll definitely gain our weight!😄 I’m thin, so my mom always says I should gain more weight though.😂

@Megumi haha. I was like that as a young woman. The organization estimates that 3/4 of the American population will likely be overweight or obese by 2020. 2014 figures from the CDC found that more than one-third (36.5%) of U.S. adults age 20 and older and 17% of children and adolescents aged 2–19 years were obese. Although traditional Japanese food was very healthy, now that westernization is increasing, our diet can no longer be said healthy.

Older generations used to practice job sharing and had been living in large families. Home cooking was a usual part of the homework/housework. Nowadays families are small and singles, as well as single parents, have to do all of the homework besides making a living. That doesn't leave time for a meal with good nutrition. The food industry is able to produce healthy fast food, but how much people are willing to pay for a healthy meal?

    確かにそうですね。しかしこの肥満率や食生活による不健康率は貧困の差に深い関係があるのはご存じですか? 義務教育内での栄養に関する知識の低さもかなり問題ですね。

@Rosa yes I know this. はい、知っています。 Poor people do not need educating to know what to eat. They need money to pay for decent food. Healthy food is far more expensive than bad food.

@Rosa also, convenience foods take very little time. Poor people have no time to cook literally. They have to work three and four jobs to stay alive. So they grab food without thinking because they literally have to eat in short periods of time.
