@john The bee from the picture will not be able to bite. :) The bee does not have a "biting organ", but it has a reliable stinging apparatus. Having thrust the sting under the skin, the bee cannot pull it back out. The bee flies away to die… So, at the cost of its life, the bee protects the family. Isn't it an example to follow?

Yes , they don’t bite, they sting. But it’s not enviable or just that they die if they use their stinger.... defending what, the hive? It’s a pity, and the same sad behavior that repeats all the way up the food chain to spoiled human rulers and their subjects. Worker bees are useful for their labor in peacetime, and useful as cannon fodder in times of war... Worker bees live 6 weeks, the well fed queen, five years. Most bees are Auden’s unknown citizen.
