How to correctly use “sucks”

Sucks = not good / bad

The term

is “sucks”, not “suck”. Suck is a verb that means to drink or absorb something. The original phrase was something similar to “sucks the fun out of it”, because something bad was taking away the happiness or fun. Eventually it was just shortened to “sucks”.

It is not correct to say, “that is suck”.

The only time you use the word “suck” to mean something bad is when you’re talking in the future tense.

Here’s the correct way to use it:

(Present tense) “That sucks.”

(Past tense) “That sucked”

(Future tense) “That is going to suck”

@Robert Rivera oh. I forgot to mention that in my post.. Okay, there’s an exception to this rule. The words: I, you, they And plural words like “cows” or “buildings” or “songs”. With these words you use suck. I suck You suck They suck Cows suck These buildings suck Sorry I forgot to include this in my post
  • Joey 2020.02.21 16:02

@vinson because the original phrase is something like “sucks the fun / happiness out of it”, which means to make something worse. It means whatever “sucks” is going to make it worse.
