American is not a race or ethnicity. Someone who became an American

yesterday is just as American as someone born here. America is a country of Immigrants. America is a melting pot of people and cultures. Please don't try to determine is someone is American based from a stereotypical appearance.

Please don’t ask American profiles on here If they are Immigrants. It’s incredibly rude.

We got the point when you say America. In Latin America some people find that rude, because we are part of ancient cultures. Historically, that was created on the Myth of white people.

@Catalina Sadly in english they do not have a way to say that they belongs to the United States. I'd say that is justified the use of "Americans" in English. In Spanish the correct term is Estadounidense

Exactamente. Lo mismo se aplica a Argentina, acá es un crisol de razas, no hay una apariencia definida para un "argentino", somos un pais de inmigrantes.

Actually, it's curious that almost every country has a word to refer to people from the USA (Ex. In Spanish it's called Estadounidense), but they don't. They call themselves Americans as if they "own" the continent, while people from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America countries are Americans too. 🤔 Just saying..

But have American melt together successfully? Or just a superficial phenomenon. a shared name American is not enough to indicate it's one piece after all.

You are totally right in some points, but america is a continent from Argentina to alaska. And the Caribbean islands. And I'm American because I was born in the Dominican republic the first European settlement in the continent that Christopher Columbus called America to the whole continent not just the United states. And Christopher Columbus used to speak Spanish not English.

@Mar Because it’s United States of America . Take away United Sates and it’s just America. Shorthand is American . It’s not about owning the continent.

@Micah 米嘉德 I know it's now owning the continent, but what I meant is that by calling yourself "American" (not you, generally speaking) it's like the rest of the people are not. And America is the continent, all of them are Americans as well. That's why for example for me it doesn't make much sense your president logo "MAGA"... idk if I'm explaining my point of view. Sorry my English is not perfect and I hope I didn't offend you. In fact, I agree with your post , I was just pointing a fact

@Charles Xavier. Without trying to sound insensitive I think it’s something that is misunderstood and being blown out of proportion. It boils down to language differences, history, and location. Americans are called other things in different languages. It's just how English speakers people express Citizenship to the USA.
