Learning English>speak speak speak
One of the biggest problems

that English learners have is actually speaking the English that they do know.
Many English learners have good vocabulary and decent grammar, but are still intimidated to speak in English.
The biggest thing I see, is that some schools and teachers still focus on vocabulary and grammar more than anything else. This makes highly educated students who can't communicate.

I always ask my students - If you wanted to be a musician, would you spend 8 years just studying musical notes but never actually touch a musical instrument? It would be a big waste of time and money, wouldn't it?
Learning vocabulary and grammar is very important for good English, but if you never actually speak it, what is the purpose of putting all those years of time, effort, and money into it?

I am having the problem. I have been learning English for a long time but I haven’t spoken it fluent. Now, I found the textbooks are terrible.🙊

    是的,我想主要是因为我们要参加考试吧,因为以前考试不考口语,而得高分,就要会答题,而题主要考词汇语法。如果考试方式变成,口语表达占很多的分值,我想教育教育方式和学习方式也会变。现在中高考里面好像也增加了口语考试。

Because exam-oriented education is more about doing problems, rather than using English as a communication tool to learn.
