When I first moved to Beijing in 2011, the pollution problem

was so severe that the city was engulfed in heavy smog for more than half of the year. The blue sky and clean air were such a luxury for all the residents.
Beginning in 2013, China started to layout clear and specific action plans to tackle the problem and elevate the environment as one of the central pillars of their development. Gradually, the air quality started to improve.
Fast forward to 2021, now over 90% of the year we enjoy good air quality days. Beijing enjoys many beautiful blue sky days as you can see from the photo on the right taken yesterday.
